Green Smoothie That Doesn’t Taste Green

A green smoothie is probably not a favorite among so many people. It’s definitely healthy and good for you but let’s face it, it just doesn’t taste the best. I bet many of you would prefer a milkshake rather than a green one when you’re craving a smoothie. We all want to be healthy and well, but there are a lot of unhealthy food options that taste so much nicer. I don’t know about you, but I, myself is straight off the bat guilty on all counts.

To all of you out there who wants to try something healthy but is not very keen on the taste of greens, here is a quick and easy smoothie recipe for you.


As you can see from the photo, the smoothie looks really green. But I promise it taste so much nicer than it looks. Here are the ingredients you will need to make this amazing green smoothie:

1. A Handful of Spinach (the fresher, the better)
Spinach tastes a lot more pleasant than other greens like kale. Spinach is a great source of vitamins A, C, K, E, B2, B6, calcium, magnesium, iron and so much more. It is also full of antioxidants which are generally good for your skin and overall body system.

2. 1 Apple (remove seeds and slice into chunks)
The juice of apple is the main ingredient that will alter the green taste of spinach. It will help add sweetness and thickness to the smoothie. Apple is an extremely great source of antioxidants, dietary fiber, and flavonoids. Thus, an apple a day definitely keeps the doctor away.

3. A Dice of Ginger (peeled and sliced)

The ginger in this smoothie will help cancel out any bitter taste from the spinach. It will add a mild zingy taste but not overpowering. Ginger contains gingerol which is a bioactive compound that provides an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effect.

4. 1 Tablespoon of Honey

For an added sweetness, honey is definitely the easiest and healthiest option you can find in your kitchen. Honey is renowned for its antibacterial properties. Hence why it is known as “nature’s antibiotic”. It also helps reduce gastrointestinal disorders like ulcer and hyperacidity. Mentioning all the health benefits of honey will make this post very long and I know for a fact that everyone on this planet knows that honey is a god-sent product.

  1. Yes to all of this. My thing is to freeze all the ingredients, even fresh spinach, ahead of time. Papaya, mango, pineapple, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, apples, pears – all soooo good! Cut up your own and freeze in big batches to make it way less expensive. Add a little apple cider vinegar (I like mine sour), a little OJ or almond milk, or something liquid since all else is frozen, and a spoonful of plain yogurt and it’s breakfast! But it totally tastes like sorbet.
